UFC president Dana White has confirmed two new bouts for the UFC on Versus 4 card emanating from Pittsburgh’s Consol Energy Center, June 26.
White announced that a verbal agreement is in place for a welterweight match-up between T.J. Grant (16-5 MMA, 3-3 UFC) meets Matt Riddle (5-2 MMA, 5-2 UFC).
Grant’s last fight ended in defeat at the hands of Ricardo Almeida, who has retired from the sport in the last few weeks. Riddle comes off a loss to Sean Pierson the last time the UFC came to Canada at UFC 124, a contest many felt wrongly did not earn “Fight of the Night” honours after the UFC allowed the public to decide in a vote which competitors should receive the bonus.
The UFC president also revealed a lightweight bout featuring Nik Lentz (21-3-2 MMA, 5-0-1 UFC) and Charles Oliveira (14-1 MMA, 2-1 UFC) was in the works for the event.
Lentz, who is on a six bout win streak and unbeaten since 2007, most recently submitted Waylon Lowe at Ultimate Fight Night 24. Oliveira will attempt to avenge his fist career loss to Jim Miller back at UFC 124 in December.
