Hard-hitting UFC and Strikeforce veteran Terry Martin (22-9) will step in on short notice for an injured Jeremy Hamilton (8-0) and face middleweight prospect Tim Ruberg (8-0) at this month’s Superior Cage Combat 4 event in Las Vegas.
Martin, who suffered through a 2-6 stretch from 2007 to 2009, has reinvented himself in recent bouts and currently carries a 4-1 mark in his past five fights. The 31-year-old Martin is probably best remembered for memorable bouts with fighters such as Vitor Belfort, James Irvin, Jason Lambert, Chris Leben, Jorge Rivera, Ivan Salaverry and Scott Smith, among others.
Meanwhile, Ruberg brings an undefeated mark to the bout after earning victories in each of his first eight bouts. Five of the wins have come via first-round stoppage. Ruberg’s most recent fight came under the Bellator Fighting Championships’ banner, where he earned a decision win over Mike Fleniken at this past May’s Bellator 45 event.
“SCC 4: Grove vs. Silva” takes place Feb. 16 at Orleans Arena in Las Vegas.
Superior Cage Combat 4 lineup now includes:
- Kendall Grove vs. Jay Silva
- Justin Buchholz vs. John Gunderson (for first-ever lightweight title)
- Danny Davis Jr. vs. Jamie Yager
- Terry Martin vs. Tim Ruberg
- Paulo Goncalves vs. Dominique Robinson
- Anthony Hamilton vs. Walter Harris
