After suffering his first ever TKO loss, Antonio Rodrigo “Minotauro” Nogueira finally gets his chance at redemption against Frank Mir.
Coming off of a high energy KO victory over Branden Schaub at UFC Rio , Big Nog has verbally agreed to reconvene with Mir at UFC 140 in Toronto, Canada.
The fight was announced via ufc.com on Wednesday with UFC Presisdent Dana White stating, “Both men are known as two of the premiere submission specialists in the division but have shown dangerous striking skills as well.”
Before fighting Schaub, Nogueira was coming off a devastating loss to Cain Velasquez and had possibly contemplated retirement from the sport. However, at the age of 35, Nogueira has proved that he is far from finished coming into UFC 134 looking in the best shape of his career.
In most recent years, Mir has won two of his last three bouts in the octagon with an overall record of 15-5. With his last loss coming to Shane Carwin in March of 2010, Mir has overcome that loss to with back-to-back wins Mirko Crocop and “The Ultimate Fighter Season 10″ winner, Roy Nelson.
