Zoila Frausto punched her ticket to the final of the women’s 115-pound tournament on Thursday with an oddly scored split-decision victory over Jessica Aguilar at Bellator 31 in Lake Charles, La. Frausto won 30-27 on two cards, but Aguilar had the other judge in her favor by the same score in a fight that the crowd clearly thought she won. Frausto has won her two tournament fights after gaining consideration for the tournament only after pulling off a stunning knockout of favorite Rosi Sexton. With that knockout, Sexton sustained a medical suspension that kept her out of the tournament and opened the spot for Frausto. Against the grappling-savvy Aguilar, Frausto managed to keep the fight standing. “She hit a lot more than I thought she would,” Frausto said. “I got a couple of good ones in there, and I think it helped a lot.” Said Aguilar, who was in disbelief after the result was announced, “I was ready for everything. I was ready to bang with her, stand with her. I am a ground fighter, but standup, it was a little different.”
