A lightweight bout between top prospect Alexandre “Popo” Bezerra (11-1) and UFC vet Doug Evans (13-9) has been added to next week’s Bellator 57 event.
Bezerra, a Brazilian submission ace, has won all three of his Bellator fights (over Sam Jones, Jesse Gross and Scott Heckman) via stoppage. Bezerra’s lone career loss came via submission in a September 2009 bout with current UFC contender Charles Oliveira. Ten of his 11 wins have via stoppage (four knockouts and six submissions).
Evans, meanwhile, turned pro in 2005 and has fought for organizations such as the UFC, EliteXC and Shark Fights in recent years. He looks to snap out of a two-fight skid, which included summer losses to Alexander Sarnavskiy (submission) and Antonio Carvalho (decision). Prior to the losses, he was on a solid 6-2 run that included six stoppage wins.
Bellator 57′s main card, which takes place the same day as UFC on FOX 1, begins at a special time of 7 p.m. ET/PT on MTV2. The prelims stream live on Spike.com.
Bellator 57 takes place Nov. 12 at Casino Rama in Rama, Ontario, Canada.
