Chad Griggs vs. Cyrille Diabate joins Montreal's UFC 154 lineup
A light-heavyweight bout between Chad Griggs (11-2 MMA, 0-1 UFC) and Cyrille Diabate (18-8-1 MMA, 3-2 UFC) is the latest addition to November's UFC 154 event.
UFC officials today announced the fight.
UFC 154 takes place Nov. 17 at Montreal's Bell Centre. The event's main card airs on pay-per-view following prelims on FX and Facebook.
Griggs vs. Diabate likely will be part of the prelims.
Diabate initially was expected to replace the recently retired Jorgen Kruth against Fabio Maldonado in a UFC on FUEL TV 5 bout that subsequently moved to UFC 154. However, Maldonado was pulled from the card and ultimately replaced Quinton "Rampage" Jackson in a UFC 153 bout with Glover Teixeira.
Now with an opponent, Diabate looks for back-to-back wins for the first time in the UFC after earning a majority-decision win over Tom DeBlass at UFC on FUEL TV 2. The Frenchman made his UFC debut in May 2010 with a win over Luiz Cane and since has alternated between wins and losses over a span of five fights.
Griggs, a former Strikeforce fighter, made his UFC debut earlier this year on the strength of a six-fight win streak. However, the Arizona-based fighter suffered a first-round submission loss to Travis Browne. Afterward, he opted to drop from heavyweight to light heavyweight and accepted a UFC on FOX 4 bout in August with Phil Davis, but he was forced off the card with an injury.

UFC vet Mike Swick signs new four-fight deal ahead of UFC on FOX 5 bout
Just prior to the official announcement of his next bout on Monday, Mike Swick took to Twitter to announce he's signed a new deal with the UFC.
The contract runs four fights, though financial terms weren't disclosed.
Later in the day, officials announced Swick (15-4 MMA, 10-3 UFC) will meet fellow welterweight Matt Brown (15-11 MMA, 8-5 UFC) at UFC on FOX 5 in December.
UFC on FOX 5 takes place Dec. 8 at KeyArena in Seattle. It's not clear if the fight will be part of the FOX-televised main card or FUEL TV-televised prelims.
Earlier this month, 33-year-old Swick returned to the octagon for the first time since June 2009 and knocked out DaMarques Johnson in the second round of their UFC on FOX 4 fight. Swick won "Knockout of the Night" honors for the performance and snapped a two-fight skid after his long layoff, which was prompted by a stomach disease and knee injury.
Swick first joined the UFC after his stint on Season 1 of "The Ultimate Fighter." The American Kickboxing Academy fighter then won nine of his first 10 UFC fights, which included a drop from middleweight to welterweight following a 2007 loss to Yushin Okami.

Mauricio 'Shogun' Rua Tops List of UFC on FOX 4 Salaries
Mauricio "Shogun" Rua didn't get a title shot after defeating Brandon Vera in the main event of UFC on FOX 4.
But the former UFC light heavyweight champion at least got a consolation prize: He's taking home the most loot from the Aug. 4 event at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
According to figures released by the California State Athletic Commission on Wednesday, "Shogun" made $240,000 on the evening: $170,000 in base pay and another $70,000 for a win bonus. That puts him ahead of fellow Brazilian Lyoto Machida, who took home a flat fee $200K for knocking out Ryan Bader.
Figures do not include post-fight awards, promotional fees or various other undisclosed bonuses.

Rob Broughton vs. Matt Mitrione off UFC on FOX 4
A planned heavyweight matchup between British fighter Rob Broughton (15-7-1 MMA, 1-2 UFC) and "The Ultimate Fighter 10" cast member Matt Mitrione (5-1 MMA, 5-1 UFC) has been pulled from next week's UFC on FOX 4 event.
The matchup, which UFC officials first announced in May, was pulled so that Broughton can deal with a few personal matters.
UFC on FOX 4 takes place Aug. 4 at Los Angeles' Staples Center. The heavyweight scrap was expected to take place on the FUEL TV-broadcast portion of the preliminary card, which follows one fight streamed on Facebook and precedes the night's FOX-televised main card.
Mitrione, who joined the UFC after a semifinal-round finish on "TUF 10," won his first five pro fights and surged into title contention. However, the NFL vet then suffered a unanimous-decision loss to Cheick Kongo at UFC 137 in October, which marks his most recent performance.
His intended opponent, Broughton, was expected to be fighting for his UFC life. After joining the UFC and picking up his seventh win in eight fights with a submission victory over Vinicius Queiroz at UFC 120, the former Cage Rage champion has since suffered back-to-back losses to Travis Browne and Phil De Fries.

Jamie Varner replaces Terry Etim against Joe Lauzon at UFC on Fox 4
Former WEC champion Jamie Varner is replacing the injured Terry Etim against Joe Lauzon at UFC on FOX 4 on Aug. 4 at Staples Center in Los Angeles.
Varner (20-6-1) is coming off a huge win over highly-touted Edson Barboza at UFC 146 -- another fight he took on short notice after Evan Dunham, Barboza's original opponent, was injured. Varner knocked Barboza out in the first round of their bout and got his first UFC victory.
Lauzon (21-7) is coming off a knockoout loss against Anthony Pettis at UFC 144 this past February in Japan. Prior to the defeat the TUF 5 competitor won back-to-back contests, submitting Curt Warburton at UFC Live: "Kongo vs. Barry," and submitting Melvin Guillard at UFC 136.Source: mmadiehards.com
