Gray Maynard out, Jim Miller in against Joe Lauzon at UFC 155
A lightweight bout for December's UFC 155 event has undergone a makeover as Jim Miller (21-4 MMA, 10-3 UFC) steps in to replace an injured Gray Maynard (11-1-1 MMA, 9-1-1 UFC) and now faces Joe Lauzon (22-7 MMA, 9-4 UFC).
UFC officials today announced the change.
Featuring a heavyweight title fight between current champion Junior Dos Santos and former champion Cain Velasquez in the evening's main event, UFC 155 takes place Dec. 29 at Las Vegas' MGM Grand Garden Arena.
Miller fights for the first time since a disappointing loss to Nate Diaz at this past May's UFC on FOX 3 event. That result earned Diaz a December title shot against current champ Benson Henderson. Meanwhile, perennial contender Miller is 1-2 in his past three fights and will be seeking a return to the form that earned him seven-straight octagon wins between 2009 and 2011.
Lauzon recently scored "Fight of the Night" and "Submission of the Night" bonuses for his UFC on FOX 4 win over Jamie Varner. Lauzon now has won three of his past four fights, all via submission. "The Ultimate Fighter 5" cast member's defeat came to top contender Anthony Pettis while the other victories came over Melvin Guillard and Curt Warburton. In 22 career wins, the Massachusetts-based Lauzon, who's racked up 11 total UFC fight-night bonuses, has 18 submissions.
Maynard, meanwhile, had hoped build off a June split-decision win over Clay Guida. Prior to the victory, Maynard challenged for the UFC's lightweight title, though he fought to a split draw and then suffered a knockout loss to then-champ Frankie Edgar in back-to-back fights.

Gray Maynard vs. Joe Lauzon on tap for UFC 155
A lightweight bout between Joe Lauzon (22-7 MMA, 9-4 UFC) and Gray Maynard (11-1-1 MMA, 9-1-1 UFC) is slotted for UFC 155, which is the UFC's traditional year-end event.
UFC officials today announced the fight.
Although not officially announced, UFC 155 takes place Dec. 29 in Las Vegas at a venue to be announced.
UFC 155's main card airs on pay-per-view following prelims on FX. Lauzon vs. Maynard likely will be part of the main-card lineup.
Lauzon recently scored "Fight of the Night" and "Submission of the Night" bonuses for his UFC on FOX 4 win over Jamie Varner earlier this month.
Maynard, meanwhile, looks to build off a June split-decision win over Clay Guida. Prior to the victory, Maynard challenged for the UFC's lightweight title, though he fought to a split draw and then suffered a knockout loss to then-champ Frankie Edgar in back-to-back fights. The former Xtreme Couture fighter and current American Kickboxing Academy member hasn't registered a stoppage win since his fourth pro fight nearly five years ago, though he's faced a who's who of the lightweight division (Kenny Florian, Nate Diaz and Jim Miller, for example) in the past couple years.

UFC on FOX 4 bonuses: Joe Lauzon, Mike Swick and Jamie Varner earn $50K awards
Joe Lauzon, Mike Swick and Jamie Varner each earned $50,000 bonus awards for their performances at Saturday's "UFC on FOX: Shogun vs. Vera" event.
Swick earned the "Knockout of the Night" award, Lauzon and Varner each earned "Fight of the Night" awards and Lauzon even double-dipped with a "Submission of the Night" bonus and took home $100,000 in total.
With his pair of bonuses, Lauzon (22-7) upped his total to 10 – passing Anderson Silva and putting him in a tie with the retired Chris Lytle for most bonuses in UFC history. Lauzon needed to go into the third round in a back-and-forth fight with Varner (20-7-1), but eventually was able to lock up a triangle-choke.
Swick (15-4) won for the first time since June 2009 and snapped a two-fight skid, but it took a bit of a comeback to stop DaMarques Johnson (16-11). Johnson found himself in several dominant positions in the first round. But in the second, Swick caught a kick from Johnson, sending Johnson off balance and heading to the canvas. Swick followed him down, landing a right on the way down, then a much bigger right hand once Johnson was on the canvas. A pair of follow-up fight hands were academic before the ref could get in to stop the fight.
UFC on FOX 4 took place at Staples Center in Los Angeles.
