UFC 146 takes place Saturday and features a slew of heavyweight battles for the event’s main card. Headlining the event is a bout for the heavyweight championship between current champ Junior dos Santos and challenger, Frank Mir.
Joining the heavily-weighted main card will be Shane del Rosario, making his inaugural appearance with the organization. Also making his first showing with the UFC will be light heavyweight fighter Glover Teixeira. Find out more about both del Rosario and Teixeira in this edition of Fresh Faces.

Recent body of work: Defeated Lavar Johnson via armbar submission at “Strikeforce: Fedor vs. Silva” in Feb. 2011.
Who he is: With a perfect scorecard, Shane del Rosario has steadily charged through opponents, showing the ability to finish both on the ground and standing. While still young in his career, Rosario has managed to take his winning ways global, finishing fighters in Japan, South Korea and Russia. Eventually headlining a Strikeforce Challengers card, Rosario extinguished his opponent, Lolohea Mahe, in the first round via TKO. After a dominating first round victory over Lavar Johnson at “Strikeforce: Fedor vs. Silva,” Rosario is now set for his UFC debut against Stipe Miočić.
Weight class: Light Heavyweight
Recent body of work: Defeated Ricco Rodriguez via submission by punches at “MMAAD: MMA Against Dengue” in Nov. 2011.
Who he is: Currently on an astonishing 15-fight win streak, Glover Teixeira has not tasted defeat since 2006. A veteran of the WEC, Teixeira made his professional debut at WEC 3 and returned back to the organization for WEC 20, never losing a bout since. Teixeira has since gone on to claim the Shooto South America 220-pound championship in 2011, and most recently finished former UFC fighters Marvin Eastman and Ricco Rodriguez. Looking to keep his streak alive, Teixeira now faces Kyle Kingsbury in his UFC debut.
