MMA Cypher Radio: KOTD’s Charron

On this episode of MMA Cypher Radio, host Corey Charron (Twitter” @charronkotd) switches roles and joins his co-host, Jason Kelly (Twitter: @JayMMADieHards), as a guest for a portion of the show,.

Charron recently competed in King of the Dot‘s “World Domination 4,” and put on one of the greatest performances in rap battle history.  His opponent, fellow top-tier battler DNA (Twitter: @DNA_GTFOH), was as game as Charron for the competition, and the two MCs blew the roof off the building.

We’ll revisit their battle, as well as cover the rest of the match ups that took place on the weekend.  If you missed the event, you can order the pay-per-view at KOTDTV.com.

Kelly and Charron will also preview UFC Ultimate Fight Night 27 and UFC 164, which both take place this week.  We’ll break down the fights and give our opinion on the standout bouts on the two cards.

MMA DieHards Radio: Jessica Eye, Manny Gamburyan, Munah Holland

On this episode of MMA DieHards Radio, hosts Jason Kelly (Twitter: @JayMMADieHards) and Joe Rizzo (Twitter: @rearnakedchoke) welcome Jessica Eye, Munah Holland and UFC featherweight Manny Gamburyan.

Eye (Twitter: @JessicaEvilEye) recently signed with the UFC, after being released from Bellator due to the promotion’s decision to cut WMMA, and is scheduled to debut against Sarah Kaufman at UFC 166 on Oct. 19 at the Toyota Center in Houston.

Holland (Twitter: @munah_holland) was released from Bellator, for the same reason as Eye, and has already found a new home in Invicta FC.  no inaugural bout scheduled.  The touted striker enters the promotion with a 5-2 career record and has three KO/TKOs to her credit.  Holland is coming off a loss against Michelle Ould at Bellator 74 in September 2012, and she said she is anxious to get in the Invicta FC cage and put her skills on display for her new employer

Gamburyan (Twitter: @MannyGamburyan) is coming off a victory against Cole Miller at UFC Fight Night 26 on Saturday.  Gamburyan took a questionable elbow in the fight that was deemed illegal, but Miller is not declaring that he will appeal the decision loss.  Gamburyan gave his thoughts on the fight, the controversy, Ronda Rousey, The Ultimate Fighter 18 and Armenian barbeque.

MMA DieHards Radio: Ben Saunders, Marina Shafir

On this episode of MMA DieHards Radio, hosts Jason Kelly (Twitter: @JayMMADieHards) and Joe Rizzo (Twitter: @rearnakedchoke) welcome Bellator welterweight Ben Saunders (Twitter: @bensaundersmma) and rising female combatant Marina Shafir (Twitter: @MarinaShafir).

Saunders meets Douglas Lima at Bellator 100 on Sept. 20 at Grand Canyon University Arena in Phoenix, Ariz.  The bout caps of the Bellator Season 8 welterweight tournament, which was originally scheduled for Bellator 93, but Lima withdrew due to a broken hand.

Shafir is an undefeated amateur mixed martial artist and an extremely accomplished Judoka. Shafir gets a lot of attention from being roommates with UFC female bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey, but don’t get that misconstrued as she isn’t her own person.  Shafir holds no punches when breaking down MMA, and she is determined for greatness in the sport.

MMA DieHards Radio brings you a special edition tonight.

Host Jason Kelly (Twitter: @JayMMADieHards) goes solo and takes on a wallop of guests from Saturday’s Substance Cage Combat (Twitter: @SubstanceCombat), which took place at the George Bell Arena in Toronto, Ontario.

SCC president Neil Forster (Twitter: @NeilForester), SCC 1 main event winner Alex Ricci (Twitter: @alexriccimma), SCC Malcolm Gordon (Twitter: @MALCOLM_X_GORDON), Patrick Walsh (Twitter: @toughfit), Kyle Nelson (Twitter: @THE__MONSTER), and fellow media man, The Fight Network’s John Pollock (Twitter: @iamjohnpollock)will join tonight’s episode.

Forester is a successful functions promoter who broke into the MMA scene with Toronto’s Grants MMA, a gym dedicated to mixed martial artists.  SCC 1 was Forester’s first crack at promoting an MMA event, and from my eyewitness account, the show was a hit.  Forester will provide us with his feedback on the inaugural event, plus inform us on what’s to come for Substance Cage Combat.

Competitors from SCC 1 joining the show, Ricci, Walsh, Nelson and Gordon, will give listeners their perspective of SCC 1 from a fighter’s stance.  All combatants put on a superb performance in the SCC cage. So their retake on the night will be interesting to say the least.

Pollock has been a longtime member of the Fight Network, a station that will air SCC 1 at a later date, and also attended the event on Saturday.  We’ll get his thoughts on the show, as well as find out what other projects the pro wrestling fanatic has on the go besides “5 Rounds,” a television show he co-hosts on the Fight Network.
